Teams Chat Message Alerts

Hi their,

We are setting up automated processes for Jira, we want to know if we can have Jira send a message into teams to a colleague directly, so it might send me a chat message to alert me of a high urgency ticket.

I already have assist set up sending messages to a channel, but we need something that sends to our chat preferably as our roles can have us moving around to sites at times and having it set up like this will help us ensure that urgent tickets and risk to business tickets are picked up.

an example I would give is I want the cyber security ticket we made to message our Cyber specialist directly. Not just the channel where it might get missed for an hour or two.

Ok so I have a solution my team is happy with

Using Jira Cloud Teams app.

We can have engineers who need this install it on their teams, then set up personal notifications so they get a teams chat message, something they can see easily and clearly, I've set them up as when someone mentions them or an activity happens on a ticket their assigned happens (that includes being assigned a ticket), their basically our 3rd line and work on projects they don't really work inside Jira but have access.. so this gives them clear notifications.

I can then help set up the 1st and 2nd line colleagues to have their own personal notifications however they want it, myself I have set to just @mentioned.

I'm using the automate tool in the background to do first responses for a lot of jobs but it also auto assigns some tasks based on if it's something specifically for infrastructure for example. Which will generate an alert for them. 


Thanks for the help but this provides the teams chat notification solution we were after.

Hi Andrew, welcome to Atlassian Community. 

If there is a specific person for each request type then you can set up automation to send an email to that person for every new ticket.

Can have multiple if/when to check what request type is bring created and then send to that person.

We did look at emails, but the user is asking for teams notifications as they tend to pick those up much quicker, I have found a way to do this I think, I'm going to test today.

Assist teams app does not do this, however I found Jira Cloud teams app, which does work by sending messages directly to users, so I will be testing that today.

So far it does work anything that's assigned to them pings them a teams chat message, and the ticket can be picked up and worked on in teams, giving him mobility if he's out and about, just seeing if I can set up a priority notifications for it now though.

So instead of an email it can send a teams message.
