Hi,
We are exploring the reporting option in Jira Service Mangement. We want a details report which would tell us how much time spent in each status (Stage) for a particular issue type. Is there a standard report available or we have to create a custom one ? For example we want to see how many tickets created in a month and in which status it is taking maximum time. Can you all please advise?
TIA
Jyotsna
For everyone exploring the reporting options for Jira Service Management, this comprehensive collection of report types could help get started.
While built-in JSM reports are useful, there are many report types and business angles you can build reports for like:

Hello @Banajyotsna palbabu
You can try a third-party add-on - Time in Status for Jira Cloud, which generates 7 types of status time reports, including a Time in Status report. It shows the time an issue has been spent in each status. So you can track a process flow conveniently.
Additionally, you can get an Assignee time report to track the effectiveness of your team.
Thisreportshows how long a chosen Assignee has spent working on each issue.
Also, you can export data to CSV and XLSX files.
Also, you can export a generated report to CSV or XLSX files. It's developed by my team and is free for using up to 10 users. Please, let me know if you have any questions.

You could use the Average time in status gadget to show this. There are also apps in the Marketplace that can show it as well if the Average time in status gadget is not giving you the detailed data you are looking for.

Hello @Banajyotsna palbabu
For the number of tickets opened and closed, you can use the standard JSM reports or the "created vs resolved chart" that is available as a dashboard gadget. It doesn't provide weekly or monthly grouping but at least it gives you the numbers.
For status times, I am afraid Jira does not provide that as a ready-to-use report. The data you need is available in each issue's history but you'll need a marketplace app to extract it as a ready-to-use report.
Our team at OBSS built Time in Status for this exact need. It is available for Jira Server, Cloud, and Data Center.
Time in Status mainly allows you to see how much time each issue spent on each status and on each assignee.
The app has Consolidated Columns feature. This feature allows you to combine the duration for multiple statuses into a single column and exclude unwanted ones. It is the most flexible way to get any measurement you might want. Measurements like Issue Age, Cycle Time, Lead Time, Resolution Time etc.
For all numeric report types, you can calculate averages and sums of those durations grouped by the issue fields you select. For example total in-progress time per customer (organization) or average resolution time per sprint, week, month, issuetype, request type, etc. The ability to group by parts of dates (year, month, week, day, hour) or sprints is particularly useful here since it allows you to compare different time periods or see the trend.
The app calculates its reports using already existing Jira issue histories so when you install the app, you don't need to add anything to your issue workflows and you can get reports on your past issues as well. It supports both Company Managed and Team Managed projects.
Time in Status reports can be accessed through its own reporting page, dashboard gadgets, and issue view screen tabs. All these options can provide both calculated data tables and charts.
And the app has a REST API so you can get the reports from Jira UI or via REST.
