Not able to retrieve issues with @xyz.com in summary

Madineni November 17, 2022

Hello All.

I'm trying to searching issues which contains email address as it@xyz.com, test@xyz.com, care@xyz.com etc. For this I've written a JQL like summary~"@xyz.com" but with this I didn't retrieved expected results.

I gone through Atlassian documentation for this and came to know that wild search i.e using * in the beginning is not allowed in jira cloud.

Let me know if there is any alternative do this.

Thanks in Advance.

Hi @Madineni ,

Jira cannot search for issues containing parts of words but on whole words only. The exception to this are words which are stemmed.

This limitation can also be overcome using fuzzy searches.

You can use a third party app like Script Runner to do this:

https://scriptrunner-docs.connect.adaptavist.com/jiracloud/enhanced-search.html

Specifically issueFieldMatch function

 I hope it helps!

Hi @Madineni

As you're on Jira Cloud, the correct answer is to get an app that provides JQL extensions you're looking for.

With standard JQL, you can only get a list of issues and export them to Excel for further processing. This works if you want to do a one-off analysis. If your use case is more dynamic than that, look beyond standard Jira.

Standard JQL doesn't easily allow it, but you can quickly find the results using our professional indexing service JQL Search Extensions

You can use this query to find your issues that have “@xyz.com” in the summary.

issue in wildcardMatch("summary", "*@xyz.com")

Check out the documentation for more examples.
