Multiple categories per project

Is there a way to assign multiple categories to the same project?

For example, OS vs. Hardware categories for an IT service desk.

Nope.  Only one project category per project. :(

I don't know why Confluence allows you to have multiple space categories, but Jira doesn't allow multiple project categories.

But you can go and vote for this issue here:  JRASERVER-4578.

It's been out there since 2004, but who knows?

There is also this interesting related issue out there as well that you can vote for: JRASERVER-5721.  It's only been out there since 2005. :P

What do you mean by Categories? Is this a custom field in Jira Service Desk? Maybe if you can provide a screenshot that would better describe the question. 

Or are you talking about the knowledge base categories (if this then yes, you can create multiple categories and assign posts to them).
