I created a workflow with 3 approvals one after the other. Second person should be able to approve only after the first one approves and the third person only after the first and the second person approved
The workflow works ok, but the problem is that all the approvers get notification email asking them to approve at the same time. The first person can actually approve, but the two other approvers get an error when they try to approve if the previous person didn't approve the request yet
Is it possible to make sure the second person gets an email asking to approve only after the first one approved etc ?
Hi Ilia,
from what I understand in each transition the same event is used. This event is surely bound to your notification scheme.
From a logical view all custom fields are references. If this matches the behaviour is explainable.
When thinking about it, probably it would make much sense to create an own event for each transition.
In notification scheme each of it must then address the specific custom field.
That should work - if you like you could test and let us know how things go. Let us hear from you.
Cheers,
Daniel
Are you using a custom field for your Approval or the default Approval field? I think you should use a custom user picker field in your Approval in order to specifically target each approval with notification once such transition is encountered (as i'm assuming you used different transition layout in your workflow design) and avoid that error.

Yes I have separate custom fields for each approval step
The workflow works fine, its just that all the notifications are sent at the same time when the request is submited

I believe it's related to the notification scheme, you should alter the notification scheme to the custom field as suggested by @Daniel Ebers
