License structure

Roeland Möller March 23, 2023

We currently use an Enterprise license for Jira Service Management. We would like to establish a link with our Active Directory and for this you need an extra license (app Identity provider). The license structure is that you pay a few dollars per user of an Atlassian product. And that would not be a problem.

Now it is the case that many colleagues have used a free Trello board via their work account in the past, which we cannot check if the boards are still used or whether it still has value in it.

We are now confronted with licensing costs for these accounts, while the intent of our action is to link Active Directory. The organization also doesn't want to manage/organize those Trello boards from Active Directory at all.

Are there any other ways to exclude those “free” Trello board users from being counted as users for the licensing fee.

Welcome to the Atlassian Community!

I'm afraid the licence scheme is quite simple - a user is a user, and you need to pay for them.  It does not matter that your users are in active directory or coming from another identity provider - they're using your install, so you have to pay for them.
