Dear,
One of our customers are using Jitbit helpdesk solution and they would like to integrate it with our Jira Service Management (Cloud) environment in the way so they can open new Jira tickets in Jitbit. We have created for them a Jira account with "Customer" use role. However, when they try to integrate this account in Jitbit, they are getting the following message:
There was an error posting to JIRA: 'Call to https://xxxxxx.atlassian.net/rest/api/2/issue returned http status: BadRequest {"errorMessages":[],"errors":{"project":"Specify a valid project ID or key"}}
It is intriguing that in the creating new issue process they can't choose a project name and issue type.
Any ideas why this doesn't work?
Best regards, Simon
Welcome to the Atlassian Community!
It's because your "integration" is not sending the right information to Jira. The error message is telling you that the call made did not include (valid) project data, when you need to tell Jira what project you want to create the issue in.
You need to look at how the integration is configured and get it to send all the data Jira needs for creating an issue.
Hi Nic, thank you for your reply. "Jira Integration" window in Jitbit requests only Username, Password and URL. No errors here. however, when you try to create an issue, the Project menu is empty (there's no projects to choose from), although this Jira user (with customer role permissions) have permissions to access their particular project.

You are going to have to raise this with Jitbit - they need to fix the calls that their app is making.

Welcome to the community. I agreed with @Nic Brough -Adaptavist- statement. I would recommend that you need to contact the Jitbit helpdesk solution vendor directly for further assistance as it is a third party app.
