Jira Service Management and Jira lisencing

Hello,

Some users in our organization have a separate Jira license other than JSM. These users are JSM agents.

For users with a Jira Service Management license,

1. Do you still need a separate Jira license?

2. Which functions or access will be removed if you remove the Jira license, keeping the JSM license?

3. Is having a separate Jira license (already have JSM) require additional payment?

Thanks!

The question you should ask is, do your JSM agents need access to Jira projects? If the answer is no, then they do not need a Jira license. If they only need agent access in JSM then that is the only license they need.

For your second question, if you remove Jira license from a user with a JSM license they will no longer have access to Jira projects, just JSM projects as I explained above.

Yes, Jira licenses and JSM licenses have their own pricing and you would have to pay for both.

Hi Mikael,

@Mikael Sandberg

Which types of projects are considered as Jira projects?

I am the user access admin for JSM on another Jira site, no Jira license. However I can still create work management projects or software management projects. I am confused.Screenshot 2024-08-01 164041.pngScreenshot 2024-08-01 164108.png

Thank you.

Any of the project templates listed when you click on Service management are JSM projects and would require a JSM license. Customers do not require a license in order to access the help portal and submit requests.

All the ones listed under Software development and Work management at Jira projects and requires a Jira license. And the templates listed under Product discovery require a Jira Product Discovery license or a Jira license depending on what permissions the user should have in the project.

Thats what I thought too, but without a Jira license I still have access to project templates listed as "Jira".

That is expected, but you would not be able to use the project without the right license.

Hi @Allen Jingshi Chen

Thanks,

YY哥
