JSM Incident & Slack

Hi, 

Our JSM project is connected to Slack workspace and we have a separate channel for incidents (#incident-management-p1). 

I'm looking, When ever user created a incident then automatically post the incident in particular slack channel (#incident-management-p1). 

I don't want to create new channel for every incident. 

I' already configured  "Jira Service Management ChatOps" addon in Slack.

Hello @Chandra Mouli Bollareddy - I think you just need to start a new connection in the slack integration add on in the project itself. So just go to "Slack Integration" in your project settings and then set a connection that will fire only when a new issue has been created. You can even filter the issues by using a jql and select "created" in issue is field.

Let me know if you are able to create that.

  • I have added the Slack integration to particular project. Refer screenshot-1

  • I created a Incident and Click on "Add Channel" and select the existing Channel for Incidents (#incident-management-p1). 
  • For every incident,  users need to add the channel manually.

  • My requirement is:
    • How to link/add the incident to existing channel automatically, once ticket is created.

Hello @Chandra Mouli Bollareddy - Do you see something like this in your project sidebar? This will allow you to set a new connection. It should be under - apps if you have it installed.

If you don't see this then you would have to add the integration from using these steps - https://support.atlassian.com/jira-service-management-cloud/docs/integrate-with-slack/

Hi @Bharat Kalia 

  • I already integrated with channel and write the filters so that if any user created a incident then we will get the notification in particular channel. 
  • My Requirement is: Refer Screenshot-2
    • In incident, we have an option Slack - Add Channel . When user is created a incident the automatically add this ticket to Channel .

  • In screenshot-3, user have link this incident to slack channel manually. 
  • I'm looking this process automation.

@Chandra Mouli Bollareddy - I don't think you can automate that process. You might be able to create a new channel for an incident using an automated process - https://support.atlassian.com/jira-service-management-cloud/docs/create-a-chat-channel-from-an-incident/

There is also an app Integration+ for Slack

This app allows for many channels to be configured for actionable notifications, also be able to capture conversations in Slack from a notification!
