Issue attribute "Resolution" - How do we create multiple Resolutions.

Jairaj K August 2, 2021

Hi Team,

For Tickets "Cancelled" and "Completed" we are using the same attribute Resolution which doesn't make any sense. Hence we would like to have multiple reasons created.

Can someone please explain how do we fix this.

Thanks.

Hi @Jairaj K  Only person with JIRA Admin permission can create new Resolutions in JIRA.

Go to Issues > Issues Atributtes > Resolution > Create Resolution.

If you want to see multiple Resolution options when issue moving to Cancelled or Completed status, for this i suggest you to insert Resolution Screen for these transitions. So that you can select Resolution of your choice from Resolution field.

Hello @Jairaj K

For separate reasons, you will need to set the Resolutions these statuses. This will require admin privileges.

The steps are:

  1. From Project Settings, go to Workflows
  2. Choose the workflow, which is applicable and click the small pencil-like icon on the right-hand side
  3. Click on the diagram, to view the workflow diagrammatically (easy visualization)
  4. Click on the arrow going to the Cancelled status, and then click on Post Functions from the menu which opens
  5. Hover over the Post Function which is setting the Resolution and click on the pencil-like icon
  6. Select the appropriate Resolution from the drop-down
  7. Repeat steps 4 to 6, for Completed status as well
