Is there any way to connect a custom email to JSM with SMTP protocol?

Ed Osborn March 19, 2023

I'm setting up a new Jira Service Management helpdesk and would like to connect a custom email I have set up, following these instructions: https://support.atlassian.com/jira-service-management-cloud/docs/add-an-email-account/

However, the only protocol options for the connection are POP, POP3S, IMAP, and IMAPS. All of these ports are closed by default in our corporate firewall and there's no way to use these protocols for connecting the email.

Is there any way to connect a custom email using SMTP protocol?

No, there isn't a way to connect a custom email using SMTP protocol. Jira Service Management only supports POP, POP3S, IMAP, and IMAPS protocols. If none of these are possible due to your corporate firewall settings, you may need to consider using a different email account or adjusting your firewall settings to allow for one of these protocols.
