Is there an integrated time Traking tool in Jira that would track time spent per each client?

praktikant3 October 19, 2021

Hello,

is there an integrated time Traking tool in Jira that would track time spent per ticket per each client (ideally that it would pick info about a client from Organisation in the ticket)? Or maybe you have any suggestion of add-on Apps that we could try.

We have one project and about 60 clients (Organisations in the project) in it and we would like to track time spent per each client.

We've already tried Clockify but time spent pro customer wasn't shown in the report.

Thank you very much!

Best regards,

Katsiaryna

Hi @praktikant3

To the list of tools described before, you can explore other alternatives:

- Clockwork - for time logging, allows filter data by any custom field (it can be the name of client or organisation)

Time in status for Jira Cloud automatically calculates time issue was in work (in each statuses). To get this data for any issues field you can by using it`s Pivot table feature

I second that Clockwork might be suitable for your need. It has the ability to display total time reported on Jira issues split into groups having the same Organization value:

^ I don't have 60 Organizations set up in my Jira instance, but you get the point how it could look like on your data I guess.

Zoryana, thank you so much for the suggestions!

I tried Clockwork and Piotr, you are right, it fits us perfectly. Thank you for a great product!

Hello,

You can use built in Jira function to log time spent on a ticket. In order to enable it please feel free to check the instructions here. Once you enable it, you can log time in a ticket as presented on the picture below:

As for the specific reports, to know how much time each day or week did you spent on each organization, I would recommend our product Worklogs - Time Management and Reports app. Also you can contact us here and get a special Apptoberfest 10% OFF discount.

Our Worklogs allows you to easily create customizable reports of your Jira Time Logs. You can select to categorize your reports by any field available in a ticket.

You can also view the results in bar or pie charts.

Hope it helps!

Hi @praktikant3

For a complete solution to track time spent on each issue or time between statuses or time spent by resources, you can try out our app

The app provides the following features.

1) Links/Portfolio/Advanced Roadmaps Hierarchy :- View/Manage roll up of time estimates for hierarchy (up to 10 levels), based on your Portfolio/Advanced Roadmaps/Issue Links parent child relationship.

2) Epic Hierarchy :- View/Manage roll up of time estimates for standard Jira hierarchy. Epic -> User Story -> Subtask

3) Time in Status :- More than 7 types of Time in Status reports to track your issues.

4) Worklogs Report :- Track time spent by resources with multiple filters / category / grouping features

5) Timesheet :- View/Enter your time spent for multiple days

Hi,

Jira has a built in time tracking: https://support.atlassian.com/jira-cloud-administration/docs/configure-time-tracking/

You also have many apps that extend this feature: https://marketplace.atlassian.com/categories/time-tracking

You should easily achieve what you want with the above.

Hello @praktikant3 ,

Are your users actually logging work on tickets? Or are you looking for a solution that gets its data from how much time tickets spent in a status (for ex, "In Progress")?

If your people are not logging time on tickets and you want to get data from status times, our team at OBSS built Time in Status app for this exact need and more. It is available for Jira Server, Cloud, and Data Center.

Time in Status allows you to see how much time each issue spent on each status and each assignee

tisCloud_StatusDuration_LeadTime_with Estimates.png  tisCloud_AssigneeDuration.png

You can calculate averages and sums of those durations grouped by the issue fields you select. For example total in progress time per customer (organization) or average resolution time per week, month, issuetype etc.

tisCloud_StatusDuration_LeadTime_Average_TimeGrouped.png

The app calculates its reports using already existing Jira issue histories so when you install the app, you don't need to add anything to your issue workflows and you can get reports on your past issues as well.

Time in Status reports can be accessed through its own reporting page, dashboard gadgets, and issue view screen tabs. All these options can provide both calculated data tables and charts.

Using Time in Status you can:

  • See how much time each issue spent on each status, assignee, user group and also see dates of status transitions.
  • Calculate averages and sums of those durations grouped by issue fields you select. (For example, see average InProgress time per project and per issue type.)
  • Export your data as XLS, XLSX, or CSV.
  • Access data via REST API. (for integrations)
  • Visualize data with various chart types.
  • See Time in Status reports on Jira Dashboard gadgets

Hey @praktikant3 ,

You could look at Tempo Timesheets. That has the concept of Accounts linked to the time tracking so you could aggregate the worklogs based on the account it is linked to.

Another thing could be to just use the regular time tracking of Jira and do your reporting based on the issues where the client is linked?
