Is there a way to add a Flag (Impediment) to an issue in Jira Service Management (Cloud)?

We want to add Flags to Jira Service Management issues to easily note items that are blocked because of known Atlassian issues. I know we can do this with a new workflow status, but for us, that isn't ideal. We'd prefer to do a flag and then be able to remove these issues from our KPIs.

We haven't been able to find a way to do it. We've tried adding the "Flagged" field to the issue types, but that field doesn't show up in the view.

Thank you in advance!

I would suggest using components and then adjusting your view to display them and by view I am assuming you mean queues.

Hi Brant,

I actually meant Issue Layout. I like using the Flag method, as done in Jira Software, as when an issue is flagged it changes color in the backlog. I was hoping to do something similar for Service Management queues.

Thank you!

@Christel Gray Sorry that functionality does not exist in queues.  I was not able to find a feature request either.  I would suggest submitting one.  https://jira.atlassian.com/secure/Dashboard.jspa

I was just investigating this. You can use the "Flagged" field to make issues show a flag when looking at them, but this is just "Impediment" on the JSM queue.

You could create a "Flag" checkbox field with a flag emoji: 🚩. I use an automation like this to manage them:

  1. When value changes for Reporter
  2. If/else block: If: User condition: Reporter is in VIP Customer project role
    1. Then: Edit issue:
      1. Flagged: Impediment
      2. VIP: 🚩
  3. Else if: Issue fields condition: Flagged is not empty
    1. Then: Edit issue:
      1. Flagged:
      2. VIP:

Unfortunately, it's not a tight column like the Issue Type or Priority columns:

Still, works well enough for flagging issues.
