we are currently asking ourselves how "popular" our service desk portal is. So how many users are using it?
Is there a built-in report or similar which shows the number of visitors of the portal over time?
(The reports in the service management project are all related to cases and their resolution time)

No there is not as this relates to web traffic.
You should look at web stat tools, like Google Analytics or Piwik or other.
Atlassian is not doing this, as this would cause major implication on GDPR.

I know piwik but this would require to put "custom" java-script on the support-portal. And that's not possible, is it?
