Is it possible to use an Active Directory group to authenticate users and create users directly

Ian Ashley September 28, 2021

We have AD configured for all our internal users and also have customers access the tickets.

Is there a way the add the customers directory as we don't want add them to our AD group?

Thanks for your help,

Ian

Hi @Ian Ashley!

If I'm understanding your ask correctly, you won't be able to include your customers AD directory as a part of your instance.

What you will want to do is setup an organization for those customers:

https://support.atlassian.com/jira-service-management-cloud/docs/group-customers-into-organizations/

You should also be able to automate the addition of users into the Organization(s):

https://developer.atlassian.com/cloud/jira/service-desk/rest/api-group-organization/#api-rest-servicedeskapi-organization-organizationid-user-post

That should help get you started on group management for your customers.
