If I change a field in the request type, will the previous field will be removed retrospectively?

Vera Valshonok October 25, 2023

We are having a Request type on the projects, and I want to update one of the fields to a new one. Will this change remove all the information for the field that I am planning to delete from the tickets retrospectively (which has been created previously)?

Can I do such a change without risking losing the information from this field as we might use it for statistic/analytic.

Hi @Vera Valshonok ,

You are not gonna loose any data.

If you add a new field and remove the old one from your request type or screen, you are not deleting old values.

Values will remain in old issues, under the old custom field ... but this old field will be just hidden for users.

But... if you DELETE the custom field ... from the custom fields list ... you will delete all the remaining data.

Okey, got it! Thank you. So if in the form I will switch one jira fieel (connect with Jira field) with the other jira field (even if its not a custom field , but a field from the request  customer form), the data will still remain and show if needed in the old ticket. right?
