How to update dynamically an object attribute based on the date?

Alexander Pavel August 26, 2022

We have some products with their own attributes in jira insight.

Every object has a warranty date with an end. And another attribute that is a label with:

"Valid warranty"

"Ended warranty".

In the service request area, we have an automation that auto close the ticket (send a mail and etc..) if the selected object in the custom object field has the label with "Ended warranty"

At this point, the two labels are set manually. Is there a way to have some auto switch for the label, based on the end warranty date?

For example, let's say that we have some cameras with 2 year warranty. After that date, if someone choose the product in the service request, it should be closed by the automation, that sees the "Ended warranty" label, that has auto switched after the date.

Hi @Alexander Pavel and welcome to the community,

Yes this is possible, but you have to create a custom insight object field, which you will set up in such a way so that it brings the Ended Warranty Date.

This field of course must be mapped to any existing or new ticket created inside your JSM project.

After the two previous steps, you finally create your automation rule (I would place a schedule trigger once a day) which you will check using smart values, the value of that field. And then you would just change the label with the automation.
