I'm using an automation rule to mention some users (in an internal comment, to alert them to the ticket) *and* to include the issue description in a comment. The tagging of users works fine, but including {{issue.description}} just shows up as 'issue.description' in the email. I thought smart values should work in automation rules. Does anyone know why including {{issue.description}} wouldn't show the issue description in the email?
I don't know why it doesn't work w/ the legacy automation rules, but I was able to replicate this for the new automation feature (under 'Project automation'), and it worked there.
Yeah, the old JSD Automation is great for a few things (what it was specifically designed for) but basically useless for anything else. Atlassian purchased Automation for Jira last year which is awesome because it's the automation engine that Jira / JSD really needed. The app is now referred to in cloud as Project Automation and that's the best place to create almost all of your automation. If you name your rules well, you'll be able to see at a glance what they are and what they are doing.
