How to share a filter with someone not on the team

Amy Schindel December 3, 2024

I'm using Jira Cloud. We have Service Management, which then creates tickets on a software project board.  Both are company managed.  I am an Jira admin over both. (But a self taught admin who has only been in the role for 2 months).

I've created filters of issues that have been requested by different departments at our company.  The people in those departments need to be able to see everything requested by their department, even if they aren't the requester.

Our software project is locked down so only the developers can see the issues, however each issue is linked to an issue on the service management side of things.

However, no matter what I've tried, users not on the software team cannot view the filters I've created, even though they are filtered to just the service management tickets.

Please help :)

Hi @Amy Schindel ,

Even if your filter is restricted to Service Management issues, its visibility might still be blocked because of the permissions on the software project.

However , an alternate solution would to Use Dashboard Gadgets (like Filter Results) and configure them with your filter. And then Share the dashboard with the relevant groups or users.

This bypasses direct filter access while letting others view the results.

I forgot to mention that I tried a dashboard with the same results.  The user was unable to see the dashboard either.

@Amy Schindel

You have to make sure that the user has view permission of dashboard.
