How to select multiple object types for reference in attribute drop downs

Those new to the Atlassian Community have posted less than three times. Give them a warm welcome!
Looking for some information on how I might go about setting up a attribute with several object references. I like to select/display multiple Object types. Is this possible? Is selecting and object and all child objects possible?
