Hello!
For business reasons we'd like to share portal with our premium customers, while leaving email channel for users with standard subscription, customers with trial license or potential customers who just want to know more about our product. However, Jira offers only two options: portal+email for everyone or for manually added customers. Obviously, we cannot add potential customers because we don't know them yet :)
Is there any workaround for this case? maybe some access settings to set or whatever

No there is no wat around this.
A WO is to have 2 different JSM projects, here you are able to differentiate settings per project.
