How to get "raise a request" button on the left side bar?

Romy Kinobi June 21, 2024

Hi Team,

I have recently been trying to get the customer access portal link for my Jira board, so that I may share it with clients. However, I am unable to do so, and unable to find much help for it.

As such, I found a way to get the link from Jira's DEMO board via the "Raise a Request" button on the left side bar (see screenshot). However, this button does not appear on my other Jira boards. The button leads to the following page (see screenshot).

As such, does anyone know how to get this button to pop up on the left side bar of my other Jira boards too?

Furthermore, if anyone knows how to get the customer access portal link by other means, I'll really appreciate the help!

Thank you!

@Romy Kinobi , the 'Raise a request' redirected portal feature is only available to Jira service management projects.

Can you confirm that the boards you are referring where it is not working are also service management project boards?

Thank you for the reply Fazila!

I just checked and yes, the board I am running is a Jira service management project.

Could it be a problem with subscription tier? (free trial vs standard...)

@Romy Kinobi , hmm that is a basic feature available in free tier as well.

My guess is that you do not have JSM license in your company site / not part of the project's agents role.

Are you the site admin? Could you check with your site admin whether they can add you as an agent and also whether they are able to see the option?

Hi @Romy Kinobi With other 'boards' you also mean service projects (created in Jira Service Management)?

The customer portal access link is available via DIRECTORY > Channels.

Thank you for the help Dave!

I tried this on the Jira DEMO board on my free trial and it works. I could get the portal link easily. However, I am unable to replicate it on my official company Jira board. The side bar looks drastically different (see screenshot). I also do get a lot of Error 403 and restricted access messages for my Project Settings.

Could this be a problem with the subscription tier I am running? The free trial period is over for my official company account.

@Romy Kinobi As you have a standard license you might want to contact support through support.atlassian.com

Thanks for the reply Nicolas!

Can I check, is the standard license blocking me from accessing certain functions on Jira? Think you made a good point, do you know where to find the resources for Jira licenses?
