Hi all,
I would like to add a field in a JSM form that presents additional information to the user depending of the value of another (select) field.
Example:
1. Field A off the form is a select field (one selection) with a list of applications, e.g Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel
2. Field B should be a read only field which is filled by the system in case the user has selected a value in Field A:
In reality I the basis for A and B are objects from Asset Management.
Up to now I see only the possibility to hide/or show a field depending on the value of another field - but then the depending field can be used to enter data - that is not what I intend in this case.
Any idea?
Thanks in advance,
Best regards,
Günter
Hi @Günter Halmans ,
By default you will not be able to display read-only fields in the portal.
This this field B only visible for informational purposes ?
Since you already have Field A setup as an Asset, can you not just add the value of B as an attribute of the object in field A.
Then, in the configuration of your Asset Custom Field of field A, you can add this attribute to the "Display and search across these attributes in the custom field" setting, and it will be displayed in Field A.
Best regards,
Kris
Hi Kris,
thank you for your support.
I conducted some different alternatives to follow your proposal, but unfortunately without success. The configuration of the corresponding customfield looks like shown in the enclosed screenshot. The information is correctly shown in the detailed view, but not with regard the forms.
Any idea why?
Best regards,
Günter

Hi @Günter Halmans ,
It looks like Jira doesn't support the extra information in an Asset field if the field is inside a form.
Do you have the possibility to use the field outside of the form (in the Request Type directly) ?
If not, your other option might be to use different "Sections" in your form and show/hide them based on the selected value of Field A. But this only seems feasable if you don't have to many options in field A.

Hi Kris,
thanks for your proposal, but using the field outside the form doesn't work either.
