How to download all Jira tickets

Phil Dorcas October 9, 2020

How can we download all Jira tickets, to CSV or XLS.  We have over 2000 tickets, but can only seem to be able to download 1000 tickets. We need the whole body of tickets downloaded.  Thank you!

Hi Phil,

the journey depends a bit on how you will actually be doing the export.

Yes, it is absolutely possible to export to CSV, like Derico, outlined.
There is, indeed, a limit of 1000 issues in place - effectively limiting a single export to 1000 issues.
However, you can do the export in batches. Please see the following knowlegbase article for further information:
https://confluence.atlassian.com/jirakb/export-over-1000-results-to-excel-from-jira-cloud-779160833.html

Things are getting more complicated when you are looking for a special kind of export. You mentioned "the whole body of a ticket". If that means you want to export everything from an issue (including attachments, issue/transition history, comments, ...) it might be a challenge as an export of that kind is not offered.

You have some options for that case as

  • accessing data via API
  • choosing an App which does a PDF export of all matching issues for you

I'd like to link a post which I have discovered some days ago here on Community. The information given there are still valid and worth having a look at.
In case you could describe any further which data is exactly to be exported somebody from Community can probably advise on the best practise to achieve the goal.

Cheers,
Daniel

There is no much critical task , simple you have to select the all over Jira Tickets on your wishes format wither CSV, XLS etc then click to the Export button then you are good to download.
