We´re facing this problem, maybe someone has an idea or there is a best practice...

A user has an idea for a new product feature and creates a JSM-ticket for this new feature. The JSM-ticket is beeing reviewed by our product, we want to add this idea/requirment to the product backlog to refine and implement it in the future.

We therefore create a related issue in our JIRA projekt and put it in the backlog.

But what do we do with the JSM-ticket? We would like to "close" the JSM-ticket somehow because leaving it open might suggest, that the team is currently working on it. But closing the ticket with something like "resolved" does not seem to fit either.

The idea / feature ist not implemented, it´s just added to the backlog.

What would be the best way to deal with that kind of tickets?

Thx in advance!

Best
Jörg

Hello,

There are some possible ways to solve this query. Here is a possible suggestion for this:

One possible way to deal with the JSM tickets that are added to the product backlog is to use a custom status or resolution that indicates that the ticket is accepted but not yet implemented. For example, you could use “Backlogged”, “Deferred”, or “Pending” as the status or resolution of the JSM ticket.

This way, you can communicate to the user that their idea or feature request is acknowledged and prioritized, but not currently being worked on by the development team.

You can also link the JSM ticket to the related issue in the JIRA project so that you can track the progress and update the user when the idea or feature is implemented.

I hope this may help you.

Best Regard,
Jamie
