How to add custom fields to customer account?

Julia Yurchak November 7, 2023

Hello!

We'd like to have a company filed for each portal-only customer's issue, but it seems to be a tricky task to do.

Currently, portal-only customer's account supports one changeable filed - name. Is there any option to add a new field so customers can state their company name when creating account?

If no, what are the other options? I suppose it's manageable with automation rule for each email to fill in the company, but it's kinda frustrating. Some directories with email=company info will be a better match, but dunno how to create those in jira (if possible)

Many thanks!

Hi @Julia Yurchak

No you can't as this information is stored in Atlassian Administration.

All information related a user is encrypted on creation in regards to GDPR.

You could use the organisations option in you JSM project to manage customers from the same company.

Unfortunate this can't be done automatically yet.

I think they are working on this issue, in this feature request JSDCLOUD-4519

@Julia Yurchak -

I agreed with Marc's statement that currently it is not possible.  In JSM, custom fields are typically focusing on issue fields only.

One possible option is use Atlassian Access configuration (a separate license then your JSM subscription), where your organization can use your own IDP for account management.  In your org's IDP configuration, you can capture more user account information since it is managed by your own org.

Hope this helps.
