How to access Jira's Preset automation

hmakwana January 23, 2025

Hi All,

From the project Settings, I am able to access the Project automation that have been set up by my self, however, there's the "Automation for Jira", that is being triggered and I am unable to find and edit rules.

From the few articles, it says it should be under Legacy automation, however I can not see the "Legacy automation" section.
Also, Global automation section have been does not have the Automation for jira rules section.

Can I please have some help in locating those default JSM automation rules.

Below is the reference pic for the automation that is triggered.

Hi @hmakwana,

All your screenshot is telling us, is that some automation rule has - probably - added a comment to an issue. On the issue, look for the Automation section near the bottom right of the issue view and click refresh to get an overview of the last run automation rules. That should be able to tell you where this update is coming from. You can usually click on the rule's title to get directly to it.

Legacy automation is an older set of Jira Service Management automation rules and features, and is available only on sites created before Aug 30, 2021. If this applies to your site, you can find it in Project settings > Automation > Legacy automation.

Hope this helps!
