How do you change the Project Key in Jira

I want to change the Project Key, how do I do this?

Hi @Clare McNeish 

If this is a Company-managed Project, you'll need to be a Jira/Product Admin. If this is a Team-managed Project, you need to a Project Admin in that Project.

Then...

1. Go to the Project's "Project Settings"
2. Select "Details" from the left-hand menu (if not already there)
3. Modify the Key
4. Press Save

Hi @Clare McNeish 

You should be a jira-admininstrator to do that.

If you are the JIRA admin, you can follow the below document  and what are the effects on issues in the project on changing the project Key:

• Only Jira admins can edit the key in a company-managed project

• Project admins can edit the key in a team-managed project
