How do I set up roles in Assets so only Admins can create new objects on a certain object type?

We have one specific object type in our object schema that we do not want any users besides Admins to be able to create new objects in. For that object type (Class), I have set up Roles: Class object type roles.png

However, when I had a non-admin go in to validate that they could no longer create new objects on that object type, they were still able to. Any ideas as to why they still have that ability? Thanks!

Hi @Emily_Komlance

My thought is that the Object Schema Permissions take precedence over the Object Type Permissions.

It's probably worth trying the configuration to confirm:

  1. Remove the "Jira-Servicemanagement-Users" from the Object Schema level Developer Role.
  2. Go to the other Object Type Levels where you want them to have the create access and add "Jira-Servicemanagement-Users" to Developer Role.
  3. On the Object Type Level where you want them to have view only access then add  "Jira-Servicemanagement-Users" to the User Role. (You've clearly already done this step, just listing it so it's clear this is different to step 2)

This should confirm or deny my theory that the Object Schema permissions take precedence over the Object Type Permissions.
