How can I restore the "[System] Change" Issue Type?

Warren Zingel June 20, 2024

When looking at "Change" request type I can see :

  • Issue Type "Invalid Issue Type" and
  • Workflow "Invalid Workflow" messages

When I hover the mouse over these I get the messages:

  • "This issue type has been removed from the project. Your Jira admin can restore the previous issue type."
  • "This workflow is connected to an issue type that was removed from the project. Your Jira admin can restore it."

Can anyone provide any guidance on how the Jira administrator can restore the previous issue type?

Hi @Warren Zingel,

Welcome to Atlassian Community!

If you go to Project settings > Issues do you see the issue type there? If not, click Actions > Edit issue types and see if it is listed under Available issue types. If it is, then just drag it over to the Issue Types for Current Schema and save it. If the issue type is not listed under available issue types, that would mean that your Jira admin deleted that issue type for some reason.

Thanks Mikael, luckily the issue type was still available and not included in the schema.  Once I had been granted administrative rights I was able to see this.

Thanks for the reply Nicolas.  Luckily I didn't need to look at restoring or recreating the issue type, but the link to the guide would have been useful if I had.
