Given the complexities of workflow editing and that you cant make changes like transitions to live workflows, I deemed it prudent to ask the forum for advise...
GOAL
To replace this active workflow...
ITS: Incident Management workflow for Jira Service Management
with this inactive workflow.
Copy 2 of ITS: Incident Management workflow for Jira Service Management
My thought process is old skool, in that I thought it would be a matter of selecting an inactive workflow and pressing a copy/replace option.
Can someone tell me in a step by step process how to perform the above workflow replacement please :-)
You associate an inactive workflow under project settings > workflows and select Add workflow > add existing.
ok, so I've selected the workflow I want using Add workflow > add existing.
and get the below confirmation screen
I presume then that when I select Finish that...
Copy 2 of ITS: Incident Management workflow for Jira Service Management (within inactive)
will in effectively overwrite ITS: Incident Management workflow for Jira Service Management (within active)?

Yes. You select which issuetypes you wish to associate the new workflow to. If you want to replace the existing workflow entirely the be sure to select all issuetypes currently associated with the current active workflow.
