Hello,
We need to migrate a self-holded jira service desk server of a project to this cloud environment. As it is an external project we are not sure if we can use the Jira Cloud migration Assistant or we need to use an exported backup of the project and import it in the cloud site.
We were wondering as well if the migration would erase all projects we have currently active in the cloud environment. In fact, we would like to migrate this service desk server as an independent project of the cloud site. Is this possible or an independent cloud environment is needed to hold this migrated data?
Thank you in advance and sorry for the inconveniences this issue may cause.
Regards.
The site Export from server -> Jira Cloud is only available on instances of 1000 users+. That being said, JCMA does support JSM project data. If you are at 1000+ users, then yes, you can use the xml backup, but this would not be the recommended approach for you as you have existing content in your cloud site. An XML migration does replace everything in the target instance rather than appending it.
You should use the JCMA tool to migrate the project you want to your current cloud site. It will not erase the data and there is no need for an independent cloud site.
