Create additional options under a Custom field

Hi Team,

I created a custom field using "Dependent Dropdown" where the use case was to have multiple options displayed at a sub-level. Depending on the options selected by the end-user I wanted to create an automation rule.

However, when I tried creating an automation rule the ""Dependent Dropdown" field doesn't show up.

you can use a JQL "condition" and/or use more options with the "edit issue action":

jql condition:

edit issue action:

Ok, but the dependent field that I used has a lot of options to chose from. So creating an automation rule with JQL could be manual task for longer run (in case of changes)

Hello @Swaroop Kumar

In what type of step in the automation rule are you trying to select the field? Please provide a screen image of what you see.

Hi @Trudy Claspill

I am trying to look up for this field under "Issue fields condition". I have lot more options created under the "Dependent Drop Down" field, but none of them show up apart from the 3 shown in below snippet.

Also, this is a field created in a Team Managed Project

I added a Dependent Dropdown field to my Team Managed project. I tried to create an Automation Rule with an Issue Fields Condition, and I didn't even find the new field I created in the list of available fields. So I'm not getting as far as you did.

Interesting! Does this mean, Jira does not allow to create automation rule based on the "Dependent Dropdown field"?

You said that you were able to select a Dependent Dropdown field in your Issue Fields Condition.

In the images you have provided I don't see the proof that you have a Dependent Dropdown field with two levels of options and that the same field can be selected in an Issue Fields Condition step. Can you provide an image that shows the Dependent Dropdown field with its two levels of options, and a screen image showing the same field can be selected in the Issue Fields Condition?

My bad, the field that is shown in the above image is not a dependent drop down. However, when I earlier created one (shown below) and tried to pull it up under the Issue field condition, it did not show up.

Is the issue that you can't select the field at all in the Issue Fields Condition, or that you can select the field but it doesn't show you all the values?

I can't select any Dependent Dropdown field at all.

I did create a Dependent Dropdown field in the request form, but I can't see that field under the Issue Fields condition.

It would seem that the Dependent Dropdown field is not available then for the Issue Fields Condition.

You will instead have to use an Advanced Compare Condition to check the value of the field.

I have the same issue. Let me describe it

1, I have a Team-Managed Jira project.

2, In that Team-Managed project, I created a Dependent Dropdown custom field named "Region/Office"

3, I created an Automation rule to verify the "Region/Office" field. But I could not find that field in the Issue fields condition

My Question: Is the Dependent Dropdown not listed in Issue fields condition of Automation rule?
