Hi!
We have a free text field in which we post URLs. We used to apply the wiki style renderer, but it turned all URLs to link description and we weren't able to see the actual URL without hovering over the link.
When we changed the field to default style renderer, the URL is displayed as it is, but it's not clickable. How can we display clickable URLs in a free text field?
Cheers,
Felix
Hello Felix,
Thank you for reaching out to Atlassian Community!
The Free text field uses the same editor as the comment and description (Markdown) and that’s the default editor on the new issue view.
Previously it was the Wiki Markup, so it was possible to add a URL directly without formatting it.
On the new editor and with some pretty recent changes in Jira, when we add a URL, it’s automatically converted to a smart link. There is a feature request suggesting to disable this option:
Since it’s not possible to disable smart links, for now, it’s necessary to let the renderer of the field as “Wiki Style Renderer” and select “Display URL” after adding the URLs, so it will show the URL and it will be possible to click on it.
Or, another workaround is, after the link is converted to a smart link, press CTRL + Z or Command + Z that will revert to a normal link.
Hope this helps!
Kind regards,
Angélica
