Change workflow to request type

Alejandra González July 12, 2022

hi,

I would like to know if I can change the workflow from an existing request type  to a new one.

The process im following now is basically create a new request type, new workflow and new issue type and hiding the existing one with the "old workflow"

What i would like to know is if just by creating a new workflow, I can change it in the existing request type and avoid duplicating it and doing everything from zero.

thank you

@Alejandra González -

Request Type is based on Issue Type in JSM project.  So you will need to re-associate (or you may need to recreate your request type) your specific request type to your new issue type.  Therefore, the new WF that you created against your new issue type will take affect.

Hi @Alejandra González! I hope you having a great day :)

You can associate a new workflow to to an existing request type by following these steps:

  1. Go to settings > Issues > Workflow
  2. Add Workflow > Create new
  3. After creating your desired workflow go to Workflow schemes
  4. Find your Project and click on edit
  5. Add Workflow > Add Existing > Select the previously created workflow
  6. Click on Next > Assing Issue Type (The request type) you want to associate
  7. Click Finish.

Try these steps and let me know if it worked for you!

Here are some useful documentations about Workflow:

hi @Ana Melo

As far as I know the normal process is:

- create issue type

- create workflow

- assign it to the issue type

- create request types associated to the specific workflow

Now, I have a request type whose workflow needs to be updated. I want to create a new workflow and update it just for that specific request type (not for all request types associated to the same issue type)

Thank you
