Change Approval Board Number

Kay Kalunga Kabwe November 1, 2021

Our Organization requires CAB of 6 Approvers for a change to happen - 3 from IT, 3 from Business. I have created the two CAB groups in Jira but i have noticed default seems to be 2 for an approval to go through. How do I change it to whatever number I wish? (6 in this case, 3 from each group)

Hello @Kay Kalunga Kabwe

As I understand you will be assigning the ticket to 2 groups of Approvers and require 3 approvals from each group.

This can be set up while configuring the approvals. For approvals required, select the option with the count of approvals required from each group and that should cater to your scenario.

Alternatively, yo can have 2 different status in the workflow, one each for IT and Business approval and then set the Approvers accordingly and define the exact count of approvals required from each set.

Please let me know if this helps or if you have further questions.

Kindly accept the answers if your query is resolved.

This seems helpful.

However, where is that Change Approval window you have attached? I can't seem to find it. Am using JSM Cloud.

Hello @Kay Kalunga Kabwe

This window comes up when we edit the workflow and check the checkbox for 'Add Approval'.

Thanks very much!

I have managed to edit the number to my requirements.

Hi @Kay Kalunga Kabwe

As an alternative, you can try to use the Approval Step in the add-on Business Process Manager. Here, you can select a group of users to get the simultaneous approval of all members of the group. Or select multiple groups and/or individual users for consistent approval.

You can get approval steps for each step of your process (business process, SOP).

Also, you can add a rule that change issue status after all chosen Approvals have been made decision (Approve/Reject). But you can also make an approval without changing the status of the task.

It's developed by my team, so ask me if you have any questions.

Best regards
