We recently created a new Scrum Project in Jira. Our previous project allowed us to change the assignee of each child task/story/bug from the issue list in the Epic view.
Our new project is not allowing us to change the child issue assignee from the Epic View and I cannot figure out why. Any ideas?
Hello @Samantha Gardiner
What happens when you try? Can you provide a screen image of what you see?
That capability is available in both Company Managed and Team Managed Software projects. The person attempting to make the change would need to have sufficient permissions in the project to set the Assignee field.
Hi trudy. Nothing happens. I see the current assignees initials but I cannot click to change the assignee. I am an admin of the project, and it is a company managed project.

Hello Samantha,
Have other users tried?
Have you tried another browser, and/or clearing the cache for your browser?
Have you checked the project permission scheme to confirm you have Assign User permissions?
Have you checked the Permission Helper to confirm you have appropriate permissions to Assign User?

Hi Trudy,
Yes, we have had other people try and we have the same issue.
Other projects allow us to change the assignee inline from the Epic, but this new project does not.
I have checked my permissions, and I have the permission to change assignees. I am also the admin of the project.
It must be a setting with the project somewhere, but I cannot figure out what setting.

Hello Samantha,
I don't believe there is a project setting for this, specifically.
Are you able to change the assignee when you are viewing the issue details vs. seeing the issue in the Child Issues list?

How very odd.
I have seen other posts where strange things like this, but not the same as this, occur. In some of those cases the users create a new project and move the issues to the new project, and the problem does not recur in the new project.
I can't think of a reason that this would be happening.
If you don't want to try the "new project" solution, I advise you to have a Jira or Site Admin open a case directly with Atlassian Support for more investigation.

Thanks Trudy,
I definitely do not want to start a new project, as this is a new project. I am going to reach out to support to see if they can help. Thanks again for trying!
