I am testing JSM to see if we should switch from Zendesk and are testing canned responses as we use that a lot to answer tickets - I can find it in the browser, but not in the app - is it hidden or just not there there?
It seems like the app is a general Jira app - are there any plans to make an app customized towards JSM, as a lot of the "normal" jira features may not be needed for JSM users?

JSM does have the canned responses functionality. You can learn more here - https://support.atlassian.com/jira-service-management-cloud/docs/create-a-canned-response/
Also, there are apps on the marketplace like our Canned Responses Pro that can cover more advanced and sophisticated use cases :)

I know that part - as I wrote, I can find it in the browser, but not in the APP - we use the app a lot in the out side hours of our support and would need a feature like canned responses in the app as well.

As far as I know, native canned responses are not supported in the mobile Jira app. However, our application does and should meet your needs if you're considering using third-party apps from the marketplace.
