Hi there,

In JSM I am trying to take a copy of a workflow so I can make some changes without breaking the original.

From the cog, I click Issues and then workflows and navigate to the workflow I need.  On the right I click the three dots and then Copy.

When I confirm the copy (with a new name and description) I am continually being blocked by this error.

We couldn't create your workflow

You must use a unique status name.
I am not sure how to get around this as I don't want to change anything in the original workflow but make changes in the copy that I cannot make.
Am I approaching this incorrectly?

I just ran into this same error and didn't find a root cause. I could edit other workflows, but the particular one I was hoping to edit.

did find an arcane workaround, however.

  1. Find the workflow you want to copy. Instead of clicking "copy," click "edit."
  2. Without making any changes, click "Publish Draft."
  3. In the confirmation modal, click "Yes" for "save a backup copy." Fill out the "backup workflow name" with what you wanted your copy to be.
  4. You can now find your copy in the "Inactive Workflows" tab and can modify it etc.

Brilliant, thanks for that.

Hi Steven,

I assume this is a Company-managed JSM project? Can you post a screenshot of your workflow? Can you copy other workflows?

Hi @Ste404 ,

this seems odd to me, at least on the surface. Can you try to use the copy but leave the name of the copy unchanged? The function adds "Copy..." to not conflict with the original. Also, check the inactive workflows to verify the copy succeeds/fails.
