Can JIRA Service Management run without Jira Software / Core

Jason Yeung January 20, 2022

Hi all,

Currently we use Jira Service Management and it runs on top of Jira software. I was wondering if we can run Jira Service Management as a standalone product? (e.g. we purchase licenses only for Jira Service Management).

Sincerely,

Jason

Hi,

From license / "software structure" point of view - yes. If you have license for JSW and license for JSM, you can use them on separate servers.

From existing data point of view, I'm not sure you can split them from your current configuration. Perhaps, this can be done via project backuping (and then restoring on new instance). But this must be carefully investigated in advance.

Atlassian is not selling sever licenses anymore, as announced here. So you would have to purchase the Data Center version and it starts at $17200 for up to 50 agents. If you compare that to JSM Cloud you can get up to 100 agents for about the same cost.
