Automatically add approver groups when adding an affected service

Sajith Jayaratne February 9, 2025

Hi all,

When I raise a ticket in JSM for a change (Request a change), I want the approver groups automatically assigned based on the Affected Service.

At this stage, the affected service field is only selected after the successful creation of a change ticket.

In the 'Services' section, I have created the service and then assigned an approver group against that service. However, when I go to the change ticket and set the affected service, it doesn't automatically add the approver group that is set against that affected service.

How can I go about creating an automation to do this (or may I missing a feature that already does this?)

Thanks

Saj

Hi @Sajith Jayaratne

I think this documentation should give you some headstart on how to address the requirement you have.

https://confluence.atlassian.com/automationkb/how-to-update-the-approver-groups-for-the-affected-services-when-an-affected-service-is-removed-from-the-ticket-1431961876.html

Hope it helps.

Thanks Septa!

I did come across this document and began following through the steps. However, I got stuck at the API callout to get the data for the current issue. I am trying to see how to get around that.

Currently, I get a 500 Response advising that the Target host is not specified even though I have set it to {{baseURL}}/rest/api/2/issue/{{issue.key}} (same at the URL present in that screenshot)

Thanks

Saj
