Please forgive the nube(ish) nature of the question, but I'm new to JSM and the searches aren't finding much of use.
Within an ITSM project I define services and components (Though there doesn't seem to be a correlation between them), unfortunately I don't yet have an asset list defined.
What I'd like to be able to do, is monitor and then present, to normal non-ICT users a simple dashboard of current service status. So that if email is down (RED) then they can see that we're already aware and don't need to raise a ticket.
Question:
Is it possible to assign a status to a service that can be fed into a dashboard?

It's Odd
Being able to tie an incident to a service, and use the services build in hierarchy to automate alerts seems like a useful functionality.
Is there any-chance it's on the roadmap?
