Assets: Jira Service Management: Form Populate Only User Asset

Hi! We are currently utilizing Jira Assets and have put in all of our computers associated with each individual user at our company. The following is what we would like to accomplish:

  • When a team member needs help from IT they go to our Jira Service Management portal and fill out a form
  • In that form they can select a drop-down and ONLY their assets appear in the drop-down as selectable options
  • Once the ticket is submitted we can see on our side the associated asset to the ticket.

I have setup a custom field already, however, it is populating all the assets so I haven't added it to our form at this time.

Also, what does Display a default object when this field appears in a customer portal mean? I selected it, but I'm not sure what default object it would display.

Hi @Rachael Axtman

Yes this is possible, I have this exact setup in my own environment.

I can see in your screen you haven't configured your Filter Issue Scope.

This should be set to User = currentReporter()

This will mean that the logged in portal user, it will check against all assets in the system and only show results where they are the user on the object

Example below:

As far as the default object, I don't have any experience with using this in this particular screen. Typically I've found with automations is that the field will default to the first object in the search result rather than one that might show up as 3rd or 4th.

Kind regards,

Suzi
