Asset management attributes are not synchronizing with AD attributes

PK September 4, 2024

We have setup AD synchronization with Jira Asset Management, but we were not seeing any attributes that are updating in AD with Jira asset management with existing synched date.

We have already synchronized objects and after a day we should see any attributes updated from AD, right? so no attributes are updating. we were seeing, any object added those were only creating.

Example: last logon, user etc should update

We need to synchronize existing data/attributes.

Please help us asap.

1. Verify Synchronization Settings

Ensure that the synchronization settings are correctly configured:

  • Go to Asset Management Settings:
    • Navigate to Jira settings > Asset Management > Administration.
  • Check Synchronization Configuration:
    • Ensure that the AD synchronization settings are properly configured for both initial sync and regular updates.
    • Verify that the synchronization schedule is set correctly to update attributes regularly.

2. Review Synchronization Logs

Check the synchronization logs for any errors or issues:

  • Access Synchronization Logs:
    • In the Asset Management section, go to Administration > Synchronization.
    • Review the logs to identify any errors or warnings that may indicate why attributes are not updating.

3. Re-Synchronize Existing Data

Force a re-synchronization to update existing attributes:

  • Trigger Manual Sync:

    • Go to Jira settings > Asset Management > Administration.
    • Click on the Synchronize button or similar option to start a manual sync.
  • Check Sync Results:

    • After the manual sync completes, check if the attributes have been updated.

4. Verify Attribute Mappings

Ensure that the attribute mappings between Jira and AD are correct:

  • Review Attribute Mappings:
    • Go to Jira settings > Asset Management > Administration.
    • Review the attribute mappings to ensure that fields like last logon, user, and others are correctly mapped from AD to Jira.

5. Check Permissions and Access

Ensure that Jira has the necessary permissions to read and update attributes in AD:

  • Verify AD Permissions:
    • Ensure that the AD user account used for synchronization has sufficient permissions to read and update the required attributes.

6. Review AD Configuration

Check the AD configuration to ensure that it is properly set up to allow synchronization:

  • Verify AD Attribute Availability:
    • Ensure that the attributes you are expecting to synchronize (e.g., last logon, user) are available and correctly populated in AD.

7. Consult Documentation and Support

Refer to the official documentation and support resources for additional guidance:

  • Jira Asset Management Documentation:

    • Review the official Jira Asset Management documentation for details on synchronization setup and troubleshooting.
  • Contact Atlassian Support:

    • If the issue persists and none of the above steps resolve it, consider reaching out to Atlassian Support for further assistance.

I hope this will hep you.

Thanks,
