Here is the basic concept of issue links -
"Issue linking allows you to create an association between two existing issues on either the same or different Jira servers. For example: An issue may relate to another. An issue may duplicate another. An issue may block another."
In general, here are a listing of issue link relationship -
relates to - an issue relates to the linked issue in some way
duplicates - issue 123 is a duplicate of issue 456
is duplicated by - issue 456 is duplicated by issue 123
blocks - issue 123 blocks issue 456
is blocked by - issue 456 is blocked by issue 123
clones - issue 123 clones issue 456
is cloned by - issue 456 is cloned by issue 123
The concept is the same, here is a listing of default link type out of the box
You can always create your custom link type setup, just make sure that you following the Outward/Inward format and don't duplicate any existing descriptions for your custom custom link type.
Here is how to configure a issue linking setup - https://support.atlassian.com/jira-cloud-administration/docs/configure-issue-linking/
Hope this helps.
