Anyway to get a bigger or a pop out editor?

I find the message box at the bottom of the page to be way to small and confining. Is there anyway to get a larger editor or perhaps one the pops out?

Is there anyway to make the make the issue window bigger to take advantage of the wasted space on the sides (no you cannot click and drag to make larger)?
