When creating the new Forms request type.
I've noticed that if i create my own input field, i can link them to the JIRA ticket fields.
eg: I've created a Paragraph and linked it to Description
The JIRA Description field, doesnt allow empty and therefore require me to set it to Required
I dont want that - instead i want it to be empty - just like JIRA allows it to be when creating issues in JIRA.
I have lots of details from my other Forms elements.
I want the Description field to be Optional
How do i make this possible ?
My current solution is to add a default value to Description, but thats not so nice.
In addition to what @Mark Segall mentioned, did you also check to see if your Request Type Form configuration has not set the Description field as required?

Hi Joseph
The Forms editor wont allow me to remove the Required flag due to the JIRA Link not allowing it.

Hi @Martin Kirk - @Joseph Chung Yin is referring to the portal form itself under request type settings. If Description exists there and is set as required, it will trump whatever you've set on your form.

Hi @Martin Kirk - I would check the field configuration for your project to verify if Description is a required field. You should be able to change it to optional and that setting would propagate to your form.

Hi, thanks for the suggestion.
I opened the Fields category for the project and the Description field is NOT required.
Only the Summary field is required.
