Adding Items to Select List (multiple choices) Custom Field has no effect

Brad Hadfield February 19, 2024

I've created a Select List and although I can add items they never show on the screens to which this custom field has been added. Only the original items show.

Is adding items to this field type even possible?

@Brad Hadfield -

A few thing that you need to check -

1) Verify the custom field configuration is setup for your project context from Clog wheel icon "Settings" with your site admin rights >> Issues >> Custom fields.  In the UI, select your custom field then access "Contexts and default value" option

2) Access your project's Request Types via Project settings and ensure the field is exposed both in Request form (if this something that a customer will fill out via the portal UI) and Issue view (this is for one accessing the issue via the project UI)

Hope this helps.

Hi @Brad Hadfield , Please ensure that the custom field is associated with the screens used in the relevant project or issues, and verify its inclusion in the appropriate field configuration for the project, ensuring it is associated with the relevant issue type(s) to determine where and how the custom field appears.

Could you please provide more details or, if possible, include a screenshot of the issue for further clarification?

Hi,

Thanks, I appreciate your help.

The custom field is present in the projects. It just didn't change when I changed what I thought was the config. (Choosing 'Edit details' for the field). Apparently, that just changes the description and not the items.

I discovered that I was in the wrong place. Instead, I needed to go to

Settings->Issues->Custom Fields->[The Field]->Contexts->Create, edit or delete contexts->Edit Options

Another usability victory for JIra.
