Add new options to a select list via automation

Hello, I would like to know if I can add new options to a single choice select list through automation or some other way.

What I want to do is that when an epic ticket is created in the project, the name of that ticket is automatically added to the dropdown list.

Is this possible? How could I achieve it? preferably with automation.

Hi @Daniel Bermudez

Do you still have JSW alongside JSM, or just JSM?

I'm asking to clarify if Epic Link is available - or restricted due to product choice.

Unfortunately, you cannot use automation rule to update options associated with a custom field (select list data type).

Options is done at the system level where admins configure for the field configuration for the specific context.

Lastly, adding the name of the Epic ticket to the option list doesn't seem to be valid.  Can you provide more clarification on why/reasoning to add the name of the ticket?  So, we can further assist you.  What do you mean by the name of the ticket?

What happens is that in my company, we used to use JSW, and now we switched to JSM. In JSM, you can't create epic links, so one way I thought of doing it was that. Now, if that can't be done, do you know of any way to include epic links in JSM?

Also, we use a self hosted JSM, not cloud

In JSM by default, you can use Issue Link functionality to reference back to the Epic issue.  Typically, Epic issue type is used primarily for Jira Software Application product and not JSM product.

Hope this helps.

Best, Joseph
