Hi Community!
The Jira Service Management team is excited to introduce request type templates for team-managed projects! Last year, we shared these with you in our company-managed projects, and your feedback and uptake of this feature has helped us bring these to team-managed projects!
Our pre-configured request type templates offer a unique starting point for request type creation, empowering you to quickly extend service management across your organization. Templates are also a great way to visualize how your service desk can come to life, making it easier to get your setup right the first time around. Best of all, they support a range of teams including HR, facilities, finance, legal, marketing, design, and more.
Instead of creating a new request type from scratch, you’ll have the option to browse a library of over 50 templates designed for a range of different use cases. Simply select a request type to preview the form, and add it to your service project for you to edit further if needed.
To access request type templates in a team-managed project:
Navigate to Project settings > Request types
Select Add request type in the left hand menu
Select Create from template to get started

Team-managed projects are particularly beneficial for business teams (think marketing, finance, legal, design, HR, etc) aiming to swiftly develop their own service project without affecting shared settings or configurations across the organization.
They offer simpler project setup and have an easy-to-use interface so they are a great option for beginners who only need core service management features like a service portal, email support, chat integrations, queues, and reporting. Compare team-managed and company-managed projects in Jira Service Management.
We value hearing your feedback to help us shape Jira Service Management. Please comment below to share your thoughts and experience using request type templates for team-managed projects.
Thank you!
